Midweek showdown

So far my running week is so uneventful. I have weeks like this sometimes where I just don’t want to or I’m too tired. I just want to get back into my routine. I get angry when I’m not.
I will start off by saying don’t ever hold off a run. Go do it. I debated all day with myself  about going for a run. I finally got dressed in my running gear waiting for hubby to get home from work and I get that text. “Working late don’t worry about waiting for me to eat dinner” ugh REALLY?? After all day of fighting with myself I should have gone earlier that day before I picked up my daughter from school. Next time my mind will win that fight.  Just do it!
Work, it always gets in the way. I work 12 hour shifts 7a-7p. So by the time I get out of work I have at least an hour or so of daylight left to run outside.  Around 6pm I looked out the window.  Oh hell no is it going to rain?? Dark cloudy skies it looked it was going to downpour.
Again looks like no run for this chick. Ugh. I still changed into my running gear praying to the running gods that I really need a mental mind clearing run. They listened because I was able to run 3.5 miles. Hallelujah FINALLY!  Just the run I needed.

Girls Gone Sporty Ambassador

This morning I received a pretty cool email. I have been inducted into the “Girl Gone Sporty Ambassador” program. I am so excited to be part of this awesome community #teamstellar.

As an ambassador this is what is expected from me: Our Ambassadors form a network of sporty women who band together to focus on positive health. Studies have shown two things: 1) healthy living is contagious, and 2) healthy living is not just about weight loss. While we recognize that achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is important, weight and appearance are not cornerstones of our belief system, and we want to encourage women everywhere to embrace whole health and an attitude of adventure – body, mind, spirit and lifestyle – right where they are now. So excited and honored to be included!

Wanna look into becoming a GGSA.

Marathon Monday (Boston Strong)

Today is Marathon Monday/Patriots day. Born and raised near Boston.  It was a huge deal. Not only was the marathon going on but the Red Sox played at Fenway park and kids had no school.
I was streaming the elite part of the race on my phone this morning. Wow these people run with their hearts. It was amazing to see the times of these runners.  Congrats to Rita Jeptoo of Kenya taking 1st place in the womans division finishing in a whooping time of 2 hours and 18 minutes. Meb Keflezighi from USA finishing the marathon in 2 hours 8 minutes. Setting a PR for himself and also the first American man to finish the Boston marathon in 31 years.
I sure hope that someday I will run the Boston marathon it’s been a dream of mine since I can remember.  It may not be next year or the year after but I pledge to BQ for the Boston Marathon or if I have to join a charity I will run it.

Run or Dye Recap

This morning we did Run or Dye. This was my 7 year old daughters first 5k, so for her it was a BIG deal. She was super nervous and I was nervous for her. We were in wave 4. When they told us to go she started out running which I was not expecting she wanted to walk this. She ran for about 5 minutes and gave up to walk and wanted to know if we were almost done. No honey we haven’t even hit mile 1 yet. Poor kid.
This is my 3rd color run with a different company and I will say it was the worst yet. The parking was terrible the traffic was insane. That isn’t the part that bothers me to much. It’s seems like the color stations weren’t long enough they seemed very short and there wasn’t enough volunteers throwing the cornstarch at you. I saw a lot people who were doing run or dye actually pick up the cornstarch themselves and throw it at themselves. I came out of 2 color stations not even touched and I ran along the volunteers throwing the stuff. But honestly my daughter was having such a great time I just didn’t want to rant about it. This day was for my daughter.
By the time we got done she was exhausted, but she was sooo excited to finish her 1st 5k. A proud Mom. As this was a fun run not timed, we did a lot of running and walking as much she could. I let her lead the way if she wanted to run we ran, if she wanted to walk we walked. At one point she jumped on my back for a piggyback her feet were hurting her. The Florida sun was as always brutal and hot. This will be my last color run. I’m color runned out. I’d like to try a zombie run or maybe the blacklight runs. Just hand me a half marathon :) my favorite.

Did this really happen?

Since yesterday I couldn’t run for Boston like I intended too. So this morning I decided after I dropped my daughter off that I was going to go for a run. The weather here in South Florida was “perfect”, it was cloudy the temps were great but it was super windy (16mph winds). I decided in the car on the way I was going to take it easy today and just run 3 miles. As soon as I started running I RAN! I ran HARD! I felt like the wind picked me up and just pushed me along. When I saw on my watch that it said 2 miles time 17:47. Say whaaaa???? I can’t believe I ran 2 miles under 18 minutes this isn’t possible. Complete motivation mode kicked in. I ran even harder. I was determined to finish 3 miles just shy of 26 minutes.. I finished 3 miles in 27 minutes and 7 seconds. HOLY RUN!! I took 6 days off from running. I thought I completely lost my running/working out mojo. Looks like I found it during this run. I busted my behind and GOT IT DONE!!!

My Splits

I was so shocked at my time. I’m a serious bragger when it comes to things like this. Sometimes I hate that about myself. But I’m so proud of myself, my fastest run to date.
This is how I felt after I running. I punched the 16mph winds in the face and did a little dance after. Lol

Boston Marathon 1 Year Later

1 year ago today a hole was ripped in our hearts as we watched a scene of mayhem take forth in front of our eyes. When I first heard about the bombings I was on facebook. I was at work and saw people posting about bombs going off at the finish line during the marathon. Of course it hit home for me being from Boston and a dream of mine to someday run  the Boston marathon I was in tears.  Not knowing exactly what was going on.

I stayed glued as much as I could to CNN. When I heard not only 1 not 2 but 3 deaths in the bombings I lost it. Thinking of those victims and their families and all the people seriously hurt.  Innocent bystanders just watching a marathon. How could someone do this? Who would do this? Terrorists? I thought all kinds of things. I just couldn’t wrap my head around what was going on. Were there more bombs? After I got home I was watching the news and found out the ones who died in the bombings and again lost it. Richard Martin sweet little 8 year old boy waiting for his father to run by so he could give him a big hug before he finished the marathon.  Krystle Campbell, 29 was waiting for her best friends boyfriend to cross the finish line.  Lu Ling, 23 year old Chinese student studying here in the US was with friends and roommates watching the race.
3 lives lost and so many other victims seriously injured lost limbs severe blood loss. I just couldn’t imagine what these families were going through. Then they had possible leads to who had done this horrific thing. I don’t even want to speak of those 2 horrible human beings. It’s not what I’m writing this for. It for the lives lost and victims and the hero’s of 4/15/13.
That following morning Sean Collier lost his life in the line of duty. He went after the bombers and tragically lost his life. Not only did we loose 3 lives we’ve added another. We all became “Boston Strong” whether you’re from Boston or not we all became one on this day. After this tragic day I had sights out for running a marathon. I just felt like I needed to run. I found a marathon to run and I ran for Martin, Lu, Krystle and Sean and the many victims badly injured and all the 1st responders.  I ran with pride and a huge heart.
Please today take a moment and remember those lives we lost and let’s think of the ones who made it through lots of hospitalizations, surgeries and therapy and to thank all the first responders for all you do and did on this horrific day.
                                                        WE ARE BOSTON STRONG

Today was a good day

Today the hubs and daughter went to lunch and saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier. GREAT MOVIE. I’m such a marvel nerd. Anything to do with Marvel comics I’m there. While I was away I got the most exciting news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a pretty cool exciting email today. I have been accepted into the “I’m Fit Possible” ambassador program. I’m so excited to be part of this community. I love inspiring people to be at their best. I can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Much of nothing

This week has been a not to “active” week for me. I ran 3 miles on Monday. I went to the gym Tuesday morning before work and I did chest/triceps. Holy hell since then I haven’t done much. I have been so friggin sore.

I was starting to feel a little better yesterday and went for a run. I took my daughter with me she rode her bike and I ran. What a mistake. She complained the entire time.

So I was hoping to make it to 3 miles. FAILURE, I finally gave up after 2 miles and my daughters nagging. I’m just not feeling it this week. Super lazy. There is always next week right?
